Looking for a SiteGround referral code? SiteGround works via referral links rather than promo codes. My link gets you up to 80% off your first year of WordPress hosting, plus a free domain and one free professional site migration.

How to claim the SiteGround discount

  1. Click my referral link. The discount attaches to your cart automatically. No code to enter.
  2. Choose your plan. StartUp covers one site. GrowBig is the most popular option and covers unlimited sites. GoGeek adds white-label and staging features. The 80% discount applies on any plan.
  3. Pick your billing term. You can choose 12, 24 or 36 months. The discounted rate applies to year one on all terms. A longer term locks in more months at the intro price before renewal.
  4. Register a free domain. SiteGround includes a free .com, .net or .co.uk during checkout. Valid for year one.
  5. Request a free site migration. If you are moving from another host, SiteGround's team will handle the transfer at no extra cost.
  6. Install WordPress in one click. Use the SiteGround installer, then activate SG Optimizer for caching and image optimisation.

The discounted price applies to your initial term only. After that, your plan renews at SiteGround's standard rate. I cover what to expect in the renewal section below.

What is SiteGround?

SiteGround is a web hosting company with a strong reputation for speed, daily backups and responsive support. They are one of three hosts officially recommended by WordPress.org and run their infrastructure on Google Cloud. Every plan includes free SSL, automatic daily backups, a CDN and 24/7 expert support via live chat.

They are not the cheapest host at renewal, but they consistently rank at the top for support quality and WordPress performance.

How I actually use SiteGround

I run Glide Marketing, a UK SEO agency, and I host most of our client WordPress sites on SiteGround's GrowBig plan. GrowBig covers unlimited sites on a single account, which makes it practical when you are managing several clients.

Three things keep me on SiteGround rather than a cheaper alternative:

Daily backups you can actually use. If a plugin update or a client's own edit breaks something, I can restore the previous day's backup in about two minutes from the SiteGround dashboard. I have used this several times. It is worth a significant amount more than the monthly hosting cost.

Staging environments. I can clone a live site to a staging instance, test changes, then push them to production once they're confirmed. Clients do not see work in progress. This matters most for e-commerce and membership sites.

Support that gives real answers. I have opened chat support late at night when a client site went down. The response was specific and useful within a few minutes, not a script. That kind of reliability is hard to put a price on.

The main trade-off is renewal cost. Year-two pricing is significantly higher than the intro rate, which matters if you are on a tight budget. Choose the longest billing term you can commit to upfront.

Who should use SiteGround?

SiteGround is a good fit if you are running a business site, a client site, an e-commerce store, or any site where downtime has real consequences. The daily backups and staging environment set it apart from most budget hosts.

If you want to keep costs as low as possible for a personal blog or a low-traffic project, Hostinger is worth comparing first. Hostinger's intro pricing is very low and performance is solid for the price. I use both: SiteGround for client work, Hostinger for smaller personal projects.

A note on renewal pricing

The intro discount is genuine, but the renewal rate is much higher. SiteGround's GrowBig plan typically drops from around £24.99/month to around £4.99/month for year one. After the initial term, it reverts close to the full rate.

The best way to maximise value is to choose the 36-month term. That locks in three years at the discounted rate before the first renewal. If you are not ready to commit to 36 months, 24 months is a reasonable middle ground.

Setting up your business alongside your website

If you are launching a business site on SiteGround, you will want a proper business bank account running alongside it. I have compared the main UK options in my best UK business bank accounts guide and written a shorter guide on how to choose a UK business bank account if you want the decision framework first.

SiteGround's new AI tools

SiteGround has grown well past hosting. There are now three AI products worth knowing about, and they all run on the same infrastructure I already recommend. Each one starts with a 14-day free trial, so you can test it properly before you pay.

SiteGround AI Studio. This puts ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini in one workspace, with AI image tools and a set of agents trained on business tasks, including an AI agent that manages your WordPress site by chat. One thing to know before you switch it on: in mid-2026 SiteGround auto-installed the WordPress agent plugin on customer sites through the WordPress 7.0 update, pre-activated, and the backlash from site owners and agencies was heavy. The agent itself is capable, and its riskier actions sit behind a Power Mode that is off by default. But if it arrived on your site uninvited, you can deactivate and delete the "AI Agent by SiteGround" plugin from your WordPress plugins screen. If you do want it, SiteGround AI Studio starts with a 14-day free trial.

Coderick AI. A no-code builder: describe the website or web app you want in plain words and Coderick builds it, complete with hosting and a database, ready to go live. I build my own projects in the terminal, so this is not my personal setup. But if you want the finished result without learning to code, it gets you from idea to live site fast, on hosting that will not fall over. Try Coderick AI.

Website Builder and Ecommerce. A drag-and-drop builder with AI built in for content and images, and a switch into full e-commerce when you are ready to sell. The simplest route if you want a clean, professional site without touching code. Try SiteGround Website Builder.

All three sit on the same SiteGround hosting and support I cover above, and all three start with a 14-day free trial.
