Best WordPress Hosting UK for Small Business (2026)
Looking for the best WordPress hosting in the UK for a small business in 2026? I run a UK web agency and I host client WordPress sites for a living, so this is a ranking based on what actually matters once a business depends on its website: speed for UK visitors, support that answers fast, real backups you can restore, and honest pricing.
One rule before we start: I only rank hosting I have actually used. Plenty of comparison sites list ten hosts the writer has never logged into. This list is shorter because it is real. My top pick is SiteGround, the host my client sites run on, and Hostinger is the budget option I would point a cost-conscious first-timer at.
Quick verdict
My top pick: SiteGround runs most of my client WordPress sites at Glide Marketing. It is the strongest all-round managed WordPress host I have used, officially recommended by WordPress.org, with support that has saved me more than once.
Best on budget: Hostinger is the cheapest of the two and still fast. Ideal for a first website, a side project, or a small brochure site where every pound counts.
How I tested and ranked these
I build and maintain WordPress sites through Glide Marketing, my UK agency, so I am not ranking on spec sheets. The criteria that decide it for a real business:
- Speed for UK visitors. Server hardware (NVMe SSD, LiteSpeed or Google Cloud) and a data centre near your audience. A London data centre beats a US one for a UK site every time.
- Support that actually helps. How fast you get a real answer at 9pm when a site is down, not a scripted reply.
- Backups you can restore. Daily backups are only useful if a one-click restore works when you need it. I have used this in anger.
- Staging environments. Test plugin updates and changes on a copy before they touch the live site.
- Honest pricing. What you pay at renewal, not just the discounted first year.
- Migration. Free, no-downtime migration from your current host.
Comparison at a glance
| Host | Best for | UK data centre option | Managed WordPress | From (year one) | Try before you commit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SiteGround | Business and client sites, e-commerce | Yes (London) | Yes | Around £4.99/mo (GrowBig) | 30-day money-back |
| Hostinger | Budget sites and first projects | EU | WordPress-optimised | A few pounds a month on longer terms | 30-day money-back |
Prices change often, so treat each host's own pricing page as the source of truth before you buy.
1. SiteGround: best WordPress hosting for UK small business (what I actually use)
SiteGround is the host I run most of my client WordPress sites on, so this section is from real, daily use rather than a spec sheet. It is one of three hosts officially recommended by WordPress.org and runs its infrastructure on Google Cloud, with a London data centre option for UK sites.
Why it is my top pick:
- Daily backups that restore in about two minutes. When a plugin update or a client edit breaks something, I roll back fast. I have done this more than once, including rescuing a client's WooCommerce store after a botched update wiped it on their old host.
- Staging environments on the GrowBig plan and above, so changes get tested before they go live.
- Support that gives real answers. Late-night chat support has fixed a downed client site for me within minutes, not with a script.
- GrowBig covers unlimited sites on one account, which is why it suits anyone managing more than one website.
- A London data centre option, which keeps load times low for UK visitors and your data handling simple.
Best for: business and client WordPress sites, e-commerce, and anyone who wants premium managed WordPress with support to match.
What is worth knowing: the renewal price is the catch. GrowBig drops to around £4.99/month for year one, then renews much higher. Choose the longest term you can commit to so the discount runs for longer. I cover this in full in my SiteGround referral guide, and there is a separate honest note on its new AI tools and the WordPress agent plugin if you have seen the recent fuss about that.

2. Hostinger: best budget WordPress hosting
Hostinger is the cheapest option here and still genuinely fast, thanks to LiteSpeed servers and NVMe storage. For a first website or a tight budget, it is hard to beat on value.
Why it is on this list:
- Very low pricing on longer terms, often a few pounds a month.
- LiteSpeed servers keep WordPress quick, which matters for Core Web Vitals and SEO.
- Beginner-friendly hPanel, one-click WordPress and 24/7 chat support.
- Free SSL, daily backups and Cloudflare CDN on the main plans.
Best for: first websites, side projects, portfolios and small brochure sites where keeping costs down is the priority.
What is worth knowing: support is good for the price but not at SiteGround's level, and the cheapest Single plan is limited. For a growing business site I would step up to Premium or Business. Full detail and the discount are in my Hostinger referral guide.
The discount: use my referral code GC3MICHAEXOZ for 20% off any 12-month-or-longer Hostinger plan. The quickest way is to open Hostinger with the code already applied, or paste GC3MICHAEXOZ into the 'Have a coupon code?' box at checkout. The 20% stacks on Hostinger's intro pricing.

What about the other names you will see?
If you compare lists, you will run into other UK hosts like 20i and Heart Internet. Some of them look genuinely good on paper, and a couple have strong reputations. But I have not run a real client site on any of them, so they do not get ranked or recommended here. That is the deal on this site: if I have not used it, I will not tell you to buy it.
If one of them earns a place in my own stack, this guide will be updated the same week. The changelog at the bottom of this post shows exactly what changed and when.
How to choose the right one
- If the website earns you money, go with SiteGround. Restores, staging and support are what you are paying for, and they are the things you only miss when it is too late.
- If budget is the deciding factor, Hostinger gives you fast WordPress hosting for the least money.
- If you run an online shop, lean towards SiteGround's GrowBig or GoGeek plans, which handle WooCommerce and traffic spikes better than entry-level shared hosting.
The honest truth is that both are good. You are not choosing between a winner and a mistake, you are matching a host to what you care about most: premium support or the lowest price.
Setting up the rest of your business
Once your site is hosted, the other half of looking professional is the money side. If you are getting a UK business set up alongside your website, I have compared the best UK business bank accounts for 2026 and written a plain guide on how to choose a UK business bank account. And if you need a logo, graphics or content to fill the new site, my Fiverr review covers what is worth outsourcing and what is not.
Final word
For a UK small business in 2026, SiteGround is my top pick: it is the host my own client sites depend on, with backups, staging and support that have repeatedly earned their keep. If price is everything, Hostinger is the value pick. And if a host I have not used keeps catching your eye, test it yourself inside its money-back window rather than taking a stranger's word for it, including mine.
